Universal Sequential Gear Kits
Quaife are well known for our range of universal sequential gearboxes, particularly the incredibly popular QBE60G 6-speed sequential gearbox, which is a direct replacement for the Ford Type-9, and the extra heavy duty QBE69G gearbox, which has proved to be a massive success within the drifting world.
Whilst both of these gearboxes are fantastic products in their own right; providing the perfect solution for anyone building a race car from the gound up using a front engine RWD setup, where the chassis is designed around the gearbox and engine, we have always been aware of the demand for a product that can be installed into a standard road car without the need for extensive modification to the chassis and other areas of the driveline, especially within FWD configurations.
To address this demand, we have developed a number of sequential gearkits designed to fit transverse engine layouts, commonly found in FWD vehicles, but also found in some mid-engine RWD vehicles as well.
These conversion kits allow direct installation of a fully sequential gearbox into the original chassis of the car, using the existing mounts, clutch, differential, and driveshafts.
Our sequential conversion kits mean that there is now a simple, cost effective solution to upgrade your road or track car to a sequential gearbox, without the hassle of cutting the chassis, fabricating mounts, or customising driveshafts.
SEQUENTIAL CONVERSION KITS
Ford IB5
Initially developed for the Mk6 Fiesta ST150, this 5-speed fully sequential conversion can also be fitted to the earlier model IB5 gearbox as found in the earlier Ford Fiesta, Focus, Puma and Ka Mk1.
The QKE38Z is one of the lesser well-known kits in our range and yet it is ideal for use in both rally and race applications, particularly when combined with the QDF7Z ATB differential.
It is also perfectly driveable on the road too, as demonstrated in this video, so you can drive the car to a track, complete a track day, and then drive home again.
The QKE38Z features a replacementQuaife outer gearbox case, which houses five power loss minimising straight-cut, close-ratio gears and a compact,drumstyle sequential gearchangemechanism.
Careful design allows this kit to retain the original IB5 bellhousing half of the transmission casing, plus the stock Ford clutch, differential, driveshafts and mounting points. This enables easy installation of the QKE38Z sequential gearkit into numerous Ford models.
There is one set of gear ratios for 1st to 4th, with a choice of 3 different 5th gear ratios, and a choice of 7 different final drive ratios to suit different disciplines of motorsport. An optional heavy duty, 1″ x 23T input shaft for higher power applications is also available.

Lotus/Toyota C52/C64
The QKE9E six-speed sequential gearkit is purpose designed for the 2ZZ-GE engined Lotus Elise, Toyota MR2 Spyder, Celica and Corolla models, transforming these sportscars’ performance.A direct replacement for the standard six-speed H-pattern Toyota transmission, this gearkit package includes a specially strengthened outer gearbox casing and sequential gearchange mechanism, which features a compact, drum style design for an ultra rapid gear shift.
This kit utilises the original bellhousing half of the casing, allowing the retention of the Toyota clutch, differential, driveshafts and mounting points. The QKE9E offers optimised gearing with a choice of five shorter overall final drives and two sets of close-ratio intermediate gears with a straight cut tooth form.
These design elements enable Quaife to minimise transmission power losses and allow drivers to easily keep the 2ZZ-GE engine working in its power band, while delivering a top speed more suited to the needs of competition.
The addition of the optional QDF21E ATB differential further increases the credentials of the QKE9E gearkit for motorsport use.
**NEW FITMENT FOR 2016**
A new fitment to the 4A-GE & 4E-FE engines is now available, to allow installation of this gearkit to the C52 gearbox fitted to the Starlet EP82 & Mk1 MR2.
