QBE60G AND QBE69G Gearboxes
If you own a front engined rwd car and are in the market for a sequential gearbox then this is the news letter for you!
Lets start with the QBE60G gearbox and the reason we have sold over 1,200 in 9 years:
The QBE60G is a direct replacement for the Ford Rocket 4 speed and type 9 5 speed. The QBE60G is a 6 speed sequential gearbox rated to 375 BHP on the track with 80mm shaft centers and a huge range of ratio choices. It is used in a multitude of different applications including Mk1/Mk2 Escorts, various BMW’s, Nissan 350Z, Nissan SR20, GT86, Honda S2000, Mazda MX5, kit cars the world over and is the OE fitment for Ginetta and Caterham.
If, however, you’ve got more power than your average Corvette then allow me to introduce you to our QBE69G:
With nearly 300 now built and sold, the QBE69G is fitted to an array of cars used in everything from drifting and circuit to drag and rally raid. Our heavy duty in-line gearbox has propelled many competitors to victory and is the gearbox of choice for professional teams and individuals alike. The box is rated to 750Bhp on track and has a wide range of fitment options straight out of our Kent based factory.

Have you seen a distinctive white gear knob in a race car recently? The chances are it was one of these:
One of the most important considerations when using any sequential gearbox is to ensure you have a fast and positive gear change. The QBE60G and QBE69G both benefit from a camdrum gearchange which works in a similar way to modern motorbikes. As the gearlever is pulled (or actuated) the cam drum in the gearbox rotates, moving the selector forks to the appropriate positions to either engage or disengage a gear. This action is assisted by a high-strength detent plunger and allows the drive discs to engage into the constant mesh gears cleanly and reduces the dog wear associated with slow shifts.
Both the gearboxes have modular gear clusters, which allows for ratios to be selected to best fit your vehicle and discipline. Tight corners on your favorite hillclimb? No problem we’ve got the perfect close ratio set for you. Like to stretch your cars legs through Eau Rouge? Great, we can build these with overdrive and double-overdrive ratios if you prefer. Just ask us and we’ll help you find the set most suited to you.
On top of fast and precise gear changes, strength is obviously important so we manufacture our purpose designed cases in house, machined from LM25 Alloy, to ensure they are lightweight and strong and can withstand the extreme stresses motorsport applications can put them through.

Options for your new gearbox:
Ratio choices

Changing the final drive ratio in any car can be a pain as it is time consuming and unless you carry a couple of ratios with you to the track can also be tricky to change while at a race meeting. The QBE60G and QBE69G have a large number of ratio choices meaning you can calculate the perfect ratios for the tracks you attend.
If you are unsure on what ratios would work for you then please feel free to call or email our sales team who will be more than happy to help.
What can I use it for?

These gearboxes aren’t just for track cars, we have QBE60G and QBE69G gearboxes installed in everything from Caterhams to rally cars including the stunning Land rover Evoque Comp Safari vehicle of Ryan Cooke pictured above and because there is such a large range of potential applications, we’ve developed a range of options to match. From basic ratio choices to gear levers, nose cones, prop flanges and more take a look at some of the options available to you when specifying the right gearbox for you.
Gear levers

All racing drivers will confirm that their seating position in the car is extremely important. To ensure that the gearlever is in the correct position we have manufactured 6 different styles.
Four of the most common styles are non cost options and are included in the price of the gearbox.

Nose cones

When purchasing a new sequential gearbox you will most likely be looking at changing the clutch. We always recommend using a centre push hydraulic clutch bearing were possible.
If you are using one of our fitment packages or using and adapter plate then it is usually possible to retain all of the standard clutch release mechanism components, meaning they are a true bolt on package to the engine.

Digital gear position indicators

All our sequential gearboxes are designed to accept our hall effect gear position sensors which come with three-pin Sureseal mini connectors making them the perfect choice to integrate with your car.
We can supply these sensors for use with your own digital dash or if you prefer, you can choose to spec your gearbox with our carbon effect digital gear position indicators which also include an oil temperature display.
The QMLED2 is a cost option at only £399.00 Plus Vat
Air Actuators for paddle shift systems

In motorsport every millisecond counts. The use of paddle shift allows for faster gear changes and enables the driver to keep 2 hands on the wheel.
We can supply an air actuator and custom mechanism plate for a nominal fee when specified with a new gearbox or if you are lucky enough to already be using a QBE60G or QGE69G then you can convert yours by purchasing our simple conversion kit.
We recommend using Geartronics Electronics with all of our gearboxes. Please click below to find out more.
