Jonny Treanor Wins The DMRR Quaife Honda Civic Sequential Gearbox Championship

Jonny Treanor from Co Monaghan, has won the DMRR Quaife Honda Civic Sequential Gearbox Championship. The 23 year old from Scotstown has had a successful 2017, winning numerous rallies in the Republic of Ireland, enabling him to win a €5,000 prize.

Jonny Treanor from Co Monaghan, has won the DMRR Quaife Honda Civic Sequential Gearbox Championship. The 23 year old from Scotstown has had a successful 2017, winning numerous rallies in the Republic of Ireland, enabling him to win a €5,000 prize.

DMRR Ltd, based in Co Armagh, are the exclusive distributor of the Quaife QBE9J 5-Speed Sequential Gearkit, suitable for B-Series iterations of the Honda Civic. The prize was open to anyone who was using this product throughout 2017. Points were awarded for 1st, 2nd or 3rd places in any class and any championship.

Jonny Treanor is proving to be an up-and-coming junior motorsport star on the Emerald Isle. He was one of three finalists for this year’s Motorsport Ireland Billy Coleman Young Rally Driver Award, having been shortlisted from the 6 nominees for the award. He came 2nd overall in both the 2017 Junior National Rally Championship and the 2017 Junior National Border Championship.

Jonny also drove his Honda Civic to 5 class victories in the Junior sections of the Midland and Circuit of Munster Rallies, Sligo Stages Rally, Clare Stages Rally and Fastnet Rally. He finishes the year 2nd overall in the Junior title in both the Triton Showers National Championship and the Sligo Pallets Border series.

Jonny began rallying in 2010, starting out as a navigator and co-driver, and changed over to driving after a few years. His first stages rally as a driver was in Mayo in 2015 at the wheel of a Vauxhall Nova. He changed to his current Honda Civic, complete with Quaife Sequential Gearbox, last year. The highlight of his career to date has been his first Junior win in Midland this year. Away from the rally stages, he works as a heavy goods mechanic. His principal sponsors are FDR Car Sales in Donegal Town, Howden Tools and McNally Crane Hire in Monaghan.
