QUAIFE-HOBBS AND MINARDI JOIN FORCES

Rising British single seater racer Adrian Quaife-Hobbs has confirmed he will drive for top Italian outfit BVM Minardi next season when he will tackle the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship and FRenault Italian championships.  The MSA British Race Elite/BRDC Rising Star successfully contested a handful of Formula Renault races at the end of his FBMW campaign this season and regularly impressed the regulars in both the Eurocup and North European championship. 

Using the outings as an opportunity to acclimatise with the car and evaluate teams for 2008, the Tonbridge teenager has now elected to go with the team with whom he made his FRenault debut, in Donington Park's World Series of Renault support race. Despite competing in a brand new car, the 16 year-old quickly got to grips with the miniature Formula One car and posted the fifth quickest time in practice before going on to finish ninth in the race. 

Following that impressive outing, the Sackville School pupil went on to record his first podium in the Northern European Cup (NEC) Formula Renault 2.0 at Spa and now has his sights set very firmly on victory next year. Despite often racing on unknown circuits and against far more experienced drivers the double T-Cars Champion has shown he has the capability to succeed. 

The vastly-experienced BVM Racing team located just a few miles from the Minardi Formula One team, has competed in Italian Formula Renault since 1993 but 2007 marked their first year in the Eurocup. Now for the teenager who is still the youngest ever winner of an MSA sanctioned car racing championship, next season looks set to provide him with the chance to prove his worth with a return to the top step of the podium. 

“Having tested with several other Renault teams, we decided to return to BVM, who gave me my first chance in Eurocup, said Adrian. “I feel very confident with the team and am looking forward to the start of the season."
