Launch of the Quaife Sierra 7" diff unit

High performance transmission specialist Quaife Engineering Ltd, is delighted to  announce the launch of a new development of the Sierra 7" diff unit, filling an important market niche left open since Ford ceased production of the standard unit.

The new diff is the answer to the prayers of countless enthusiasts left scratching around for parts, explains Mike Quaife, technical director of RT Quaife Engineering Limited: “It is becoming increasingly difficult to source the original diff, and increasingly expensive to rebuild units salvaged from old cars. Our new diff is not only competitively priced but is also better able to handle the increased loads demanded by today's higher specification power units.”

Quaife has already received a large number of orders for the replacement Sierra 7" diff unit from small car manufacturers and the after-market. The diff is expected to prove popular with kit car builders and owners of bespoke sports cars like the Caterham.

Available from early October, the new Quaife diff replaces the complete Ford unit and incorporates a new crownwheel and pinion set with choice of 3.6, 3.9 or standard ratios.

Retail price is £1250 plus VAT or, with output flanges included, £1450 plus VAT.

Launch of Quaife 5/6 Speed Synchro Helical Gearbox

Direct replacement five/six-speed synchro gearboxes for the Ford Sierra Type 9 are also in production by Quaife. They replace the standard four or five speed units with no modifications required and feature helical gears.

The new Quaife units incorporate larger shaft centres plus hubs, sliders and baulk rings from Ford's proven MTX75 gearbox to ensure strength and top performance.

The five-speed unit will retail at £3295 plus VAT and the six-speed at £3695 plus VAT.
